Berlin

April in Scotland. Looking for a wee last minute break away to somewhere different.

That’s where I was and I had a 5 day window to choose a destination. So i found myself looking up various flight and hotel sites but not many matched the days. Found Berlin and everyone I have spoken to said it was a really good vibrant city. So I booked the hotel and flights and hoped for the best.

The trip in from the airport was easy and the accommodation was next to Berlin Friedrichstraße station. Perfect location for all the main tourist sites. As this was the first visit you can see from the images that this is exactly what i did.

Berlin is very flat so ideal for those walking about and the metro system called the U-Bahn and S-Bahn are easy to get navigate.

I have to be honest and say that Berlin isn’t the most beautiful of cities i’ve been to but there are the obvious reasons for that which i won’t go into. It is though full of interesting places to see and do. I’d recommend getting high. That’s in height, not on any illegal substances.

Visit the Berliner Fernsehturm (TV Tower), Reichstag Dome and the Berlin Cathedral to catch great views over the city. Once back down to earth laze about the many cafes along the River Spree, Have a few beers and a bratfurst and watch the world go by.
